When I saw this blog post from Debby I was amazed, what great idea to use balsa wood for crafting. My husband made many models with it so I went to his workroom took piece of balsa and tried it. And Casology topic for current week is absolutely super matching to my experiment. When I have something in my head I am crazy I have to try it. Today I have free evening, Toby is sleeping, my husband has got some computer work so I am crafting.
I cut circle from balsa wood and decided to make shaped card. I think it could be smaller but I love this little critters that I wanted to have on my card both.
base: kraft paper cut on Big shot shaped to the circle card
main part: balsa wood, Lawn fawn – into the woods stamp, memento ink, Copics, Color box pink ink and I also with absolutely basic punch made butterflies to add final touch
If you will try to colour balsa wood be patient it is wet much longer and it is amazing how colours blends together. Of course it is absorbic material so the final effect is slightly different than at paper but I like it. This is my first balsa colouring.
I did not want to be first at challenge but I had to make this card 😀 You know I am little bit crazy cardmaker.
This sweet little shaped card definitely made me smile! I think your shading is amazing! So glad you joined us at CASology this week!
